If you want to transport yourself to a quaint little town with a good mystery to solve, grab a copy of Sifting Through Clues (A Cookbook Nook Mystery #8) and dive right in. Daryl Wood Gerber can write solid characters and vivid descriptions that place the reader right in the middle of the action. Sometimes I had to refer back to the beginning to keep some figures straight, but this did not distract from the overall enjoyment of the story or the writing. I liked the descriptions of the shops and the town and enjoyed the mention of the various cookbooks and the other mystery books discussed. The information about the crystals was also a nice touch.
What I liked about this book is the way Jenna searches for clues and how she goes about it is not contrived like some cozy mystery books can be with the main character and their sleuthing ways. The storyline and Jenna’s involvement had a natural flow.
Sifting Through Clues is the 8th book in this series, but you don’t have to read the previous books as this can be read as a standalone book, though it doesn’t hurt to get to know some characters in the earlier books.
Thank you to the author and the Cozy Mystery Review Crew for an ARC of this book. My review is voluntary.
Until next time, happy reading, and have a wonderful weekend.
